Retention & Graduation

Understanding student retention and attainment is a prerequisite to helping students succeed. The university is intensifying efforts to increase the number of new students who return for their second year and to increase the numbers who graduate. This section provides background information about retention and graduation rates at San José State and the efforts that can improve them.

Note : Retention rates are calculated based on the number of entering students who both re-enrolled for the subsequent semesters and previously graduated. However, graduation rates are cumulative; for any semester, they include only students who earned SJSU degrees.
